You uploaded your NON-open sourced NON-free app to github hoping people would download it and buy it from you. You even list it as FREE in the readme. It is not. I thought that was very clever and SNEAKY. I just wanted to let you know that I will NEVER buy any product from your company as a result. In my opinion ZOOK is dishonest and sneaky company that cannot be trusted. http://www.zooksoftware.com

@TheFatherMind, this is not the only example. Check this out: https://github.com/search?p=2&q=ost+pst&type=Repositories Most of these are advertisements of non-free apps. Some use wiki: https://github.com/DeepakSBisht/Easiest-Way-to-Convert-OST-to-PST/wiki/Easiest-Way-to-Convert-OST-to-PST Some provide URL in repo description: https://github.com/asm-products/ost-to-pst-converter-software Apps are sold under different brands, but internally they are probably identical. Should we report this as abuse/unfair use to GitHub? I can't find specific paragraphs in its Terms of Service.

I also suspect that some of these apps are dangerous. I've tried one such app - it launches only under Administrator.

Greetings @grv87, Thank you for alerting me to XstReader I will check it out!! As to this product and the others... I feel like if MS thought this was a problem these posts would already be off-line. IDK why MS bought Git. But it does not seem like they are overly invested in its success. I feel like there is nothing to be done. But... if you have a path to follow or any thoughts as to action we could take. I will gladly follow you down that path. (:

Feel free to visit us on IRC.Libera.Chat in #DesktopMasters if you wish direct conversation.

@DesktopMasters. I believe that we should ignore this and promote free and open source solutions (XstReader in this case) instead. To the best of one's abilities. For example, I'm bad at general promoting, and I don't write articles or blog. But when I choose software at my job, or somebody asks for a recommendation, and I know several solutions, I offer and promote FOSS.

When a Google search shows a free solution at the top (and this solution is good enough), repos like this one won't be ever visited.
