Mostly this is ready to merge, only thing remaining to do is update the docs

Ok - I think this is all ready now but the tests fail on travis due to the build failing. I'm not sure what the cause of that is so I'll test locally.

Tests working correctly locally, so next I'll try to work out why Regent is failing to compile on the CI server.

Since the local tests work and the issue seems to be compiler based on the CI server I'm just going to merge this for now so I can continue working on improving the invoke syntax after the fixes here.
