Microsoft Word 2007/2010 Problem #16

Having tried out the 1.1.0-beta1, I would like to share the following:

On the machines I have access to the font seems to function in Microsoft Word 2007 and 2010, BUT with an annoying limitation. When setting the default font for equations to STIX and then typing som text (any character) into the equation editor window, Word stops responding. After a short while an error message appears: "Microsoft Word has stopped working" (translation of danish message) but no indication of the source of the problem.

This happenes with the following combinations: Windows 7 - home edition 64 bit, Word 2007 and 2010 32 bit version (all danish editions) on two very different machines.

I have had som success on a Windows 7 Pro - 32 bit edition with Word 2010. Interestingly when using a file with the default math font set to STIX from this setup on another machine things seems to work. I should also mention that I have no problems with the XITS or Asana math fonts.

Hope this is useful.

Thank you for reporting this issue. There have been similar reports of compatibility issues between the Beta version and certain Word environments and we are investigating.

Unfortunately we were unable to reproduce this problem and elected to release version 1.1.0 without a fix. We've had other reports of rendering issues in Word 2010/XP that we were able to reproduce, but we haven't been able to determine if these are a bug in teh STIX fonts or with Word/XP.
