Bonjour. This is a known issue which is fixed in version 2.0.0. The last news on the STIX website was that this new version would be released in the last quarter of this year:
"On May 28, 2014, the STIpub companies announced that Version 2.0.0, the next generation of STIX, was under development with a target release date of early 2015. The development required to achieve our desired level of quality and improvements took longer than anticipated and we are now targetting a release in the third quarter of 2016."

The wait is over! STIX 2.0.0 has been released and is available for download. We believe that this issue has been resolved., however if the problem persists or new issues are uncovered we'd appreciate the feedback.

I'm trying to use STIX in a Java application, but for Windows users, the font just doesn't work. I get very tall and very thin blanks all over the page. In the attached screenshot, you can see it. The initial sentence is :
Soient a et b deux nombres entiers naturels..., with a and b being in STIX font.
