Estimated date of LaTeX package #81

Dear STIPub Team, I would like to know if there is any projected date for the release of the LaTeX support of STIX v2.0? I understand I could use LuaLaTeX (for example), but my question is oriented towards a .sty LaTeX package. Thanks in advance.

Planning is currently underway for a STIX 2 version that supports the LaTeX environment, however we do not have a projected date as yet.

As you mentioned on your website "The mission of the Scientific and Technical Information Exchange (STIX) font creation project is the preparation of a comprehensive set of fonts that serve the scientific and engineering community in the process from manuscript creation through final publication, both in electronic and print formats", nowadays most of the Scientific and Technical publishers are using TeX system to print the journals, especially mathematics journals. Without a LaTeX version, I do not see any value of this project, and it does not even fulfill your "mission".

I entirely agree with this request. I think that without a .sty file for LATEX this project is strongly deficient. The font is nice and, above all, very complete (all you might need is there) but we need a convenient way to use the font with LateX/TeX. Any news?

Now the STIX 2.0.0 has been released for more than a year. Any updates on the projected relesae date of LaTeX support?

Dear stipub Team, it's been more than a year since the release of stix v2.0 and the promised LaTeX package for the new fonts is not available yet. Using LuaLaTeX or LuaTeX is not an option, since they create very large files when including non-default fonts. Also, the webpage hasn't been updated since December 1 of 2016. This repository/group has also been inactive in terms of response from you. I think many of us would like to know an ETA for the LaTeX package, even if the release is not soon. We would like a concrete date like December 1 of 2018, even if it's December 1 2020. That way we could rest assured that a release is coming and we can wait. (Personally, I check the webpage every day with the hope that the LaTeX package has been released.) Thanks in adavnce.

The stix2 package is now available for download here and as the stix2-type1 collection on CTAN.
