Possible Regression with video format detection in V2.0 #34

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
OSD Setup:

Minim OSD (First version board)
PAL jumper soldered
Separate power sources for video and MCU side

Cam setup:
Keychain camera (808 #16 - probably PAL but not sure)

On startup, Cam powered down - everything is OK. When the camera is powered up
and the cam video commences, the OSD appears to lose sync somehow, and the text
is crunched up into the top half. See demo here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rzhpBWejhU

Reset while the cam video is running does not help.

This behavior does not happen in V1.9 - hence this is probably a regression of
some kind

I have a related problem I think, if my camera is plugged in when booting I
loose OSD overlay, pressing the reset button doesent work... but if I unplug or
power cycle the camera then it works..

It looks like the OSD doesent sync.. this only appears to be a problem on my
600tvl camera... as it works okay with a 480tvl camera.. have latest firmware
installed and board is set for PAL in config tool

Have read somewhere that this is a known problem on high tvl cameras ?

The Maxim chip does have a problem with hi tvl cameras, however at least with
my camera it works with the old firmware. There must be some subtle change to
the way the code initialises the hardware

I'm having the same issue with a Sony 600TVL camera. The OSD functions
perfectly with the camera unplugged. As soon as I plug in the camera I get a
great image with no text overlay. I've tested this with every available version
of 2.x (arducam-osd and minimOSD Extra 2.1 and 2.1.5). I get the same results
with all versions.

Version 1.9 works perfectly.

To confirm this isn't a wiring issue, when I plug my GoPro in with 2.x it works
perfectly.

I posted this issue to the MinimOSD Extra team, as well. I'm not trying to get
people to duplicate effort, I just want to make sure I get the info to the
right people.

I've also attached the specs for my camera.

Thank you!

Hi,

I have asked Sandro to take a look also.

He have changed a few things.
Like it is auto detecting again, but if no video input than defaults to the
standard you set in CT.

Can you try?

Thank's a lot.

I'm having the same issue with Sony Super HAD II camera. No firmware I've tried
works, so I'm stuck with power cycling the camera every time I fly :(

It can be because you turn on your cam after the OSD.

There is two way to set standard now, thanks to Sandro.

By hand from CT. And automatically.
By hand from CT works in most cases. But some cameras.

Some cameras need special handling that the graphical chip does. But this way
you need to make the chip detect it automatically. As it does checks once on
boot, that is why you need to power your OSD after your camera or together with
(if your camera boots fast enough).
