MQTT Bridge SmartApp Mobile App Stuck Install #100

Has anyone have issues installing the SmartApp MQTT Bridge in the Smartthings mobile app? I used to not have this problem before last week. I'm starting from scratch again and repeating the installation instructions documented below:

https://home-assistant.io/blog/2016/02/09/Smarter-Smart-Things-with-MQTT-and-Home-Assistant/

I got stuck at installing in the mobile Smartthings App.

I clicked on "Marketplace" -> "SmartApps" tab -> scroll down and click on "My Apps". Then I click on "MQTT Bridge" and it gets stuck thinking (i.e. the spinning cursor spins forever and does not go to the next screen for me to select my devices)

I went to the Smartthings Thing web IDE and logged in to troubleshoot. I clicked on "My Locations" -> selected the link under "Installed SmartApps" and I do see the "MQTT Bridge (dev)" listed.

I did try to run the groovy code in the "simulator" and it is functioning... Any suggestions or ideas?

I found out the issue. I had to remove the contacts from my "Contact Book" in my smart apps.

So i guess there maybe a bug. When I mentioned from the post above that started from scratch all over again to go through the installation process again, I must've tried to add a contact in during the setup phase of adding the MQTT Bridge in my Smartthings mobile app. (i.e. "Send Notifications to").

All i did was create the Contact Manually, entered the First Name, Last Name and the email address. Afterwards, everything crashed. Even if I uninstalled the "MQTT Bridge" manually from the screen shot above, I still could not re-install the "MQTT Bridge" (i.e. I get stuck).

Anyhow, i don't know if I should close this issue or not since I think this may be considered a bug.

That's a really strange bug. Not sure where the problem lies. I'll leave it open for people to find easily.

@kdubmisc how did you remove the contacts? I had none but still wouldn't install. Then I added one and it crashed. Did you remove that one contact you had or the contact functionality at large?

I am following instructions for ST very carefully, step by step, but I constantly run error during installing the smartapp on ST Classic app. It just doesn't want to save and throws erros on final step. Than, every time removing the smartapp is really hard and timetaking (after some time I use combination of changing device type to something else that MQTT bridge to facilitate smartapp removal, rebooting ST hub, repeatitive trying to remove smartapp in ST app and in Smarthings IDE (my locations > smartapps >edit > uninstall). I have tried 6 or 7 times. Every time this procedure seems longer. Currently I cannot fix it after 2 hours. I have no contacts, so the solution mentioned above will not work in my case. I have never had this kind of problems in ST. Besides this, everything works great.

I just want to add that I just went through the entirety of this setup: https://community.home-assistant.io/t/smarter-smartthings-with-mqtt-and-home-assistant/42493

And kept running into this issue of the smart app not saving and making a ton of duplicates on the SmartThings IDE. Couldn't uninstall them and nothing would work. Checked the status page here: https://status.smartthings.com/ partial outages. Was having ODBC rollback errors on the IDE and weird weird stuff.

Tried the next morning, same exact details, everything started working.

Update July 2nd 2019:

I had the SAME exact issue again after reformatting my hub and setting up MQTT again. The proper way of deleting extra "Smart Apps" on the hub when they would delete was going into the Classic app again. Going to your Smart App you want to delete, then scrolling down to the bottom, selecting which "Device" you want to forward messages to, and then tapping on the left hand side of that device to essentially "unselect" it. Once it is unselected, tap Done, then you should be able to remove that smart app at the bottom before you click save. This was the resolution for getting rid of them all.
