.gitignore file exists,

CODEOWNERS file exists in the .github directory, however it is flagged as containing errors by GitHub

@sharonfreshour This has now been addressed here 37e2d00a48b7702a742c59c71e3a83775d8cc9bc I also changed the URL name of the core but there are write permission issues. I would prefer to keep the admins as code owners per repo.
