I found myself unable to find words about nullptr; maybe you could suggest an edit?

The example code at line 278 still references the old kind_t.

If a client were to add additional kinds, how would that work? The original thinking was using a category with an error code.

They'd just choose some other integers. But I'd be very happy to drop that capability. I'm not convinced know a real use case.
