Join me as I venture through creating a public Drupal website with all the features we'd ever dream of. This is bound to include some highs and lows, but we'll tackle this thing head-on! This will serve as a public repository to share the development progress of our new website, built on Drupal and hosted on Pantheon.

Admissions Information Request #17

Closed ElliotFriend closed 10 years ago

ElliotFriend commented 10 years ago

A form for somebody to request more information.

We may actually need to direct this stuff through blackbaud, though...

Emailed Haley, so we'll see what she says.

ElliotFriend commented 10 years ago

Like with the "Alumni information update" form, I think we'll start with this on our page, and move it to the blackbaud forms website later on.

Furthermore, we'll also want to add a block so that in with the features view we could put a very short, simple "request some information" form.

I'm making some decent progress on this. Here's how it's looking so far:

The next thing I want to take care of is to really create one form out of both of these. Meaning, I want one form that asks for a bunch of stuff (like this stuff: https://slcconline.edu/admissions/freshman/request_more_information/), but only requests a subset of this information (name, phone, email) on the frontpage (teaser view).

ElliotFriend commented 10 years ago

It may not be possible to combine these into one form, like I was hoping. It doesn't look like I'm able to specify which fields ought to be in the teaser. Although, I sure hope that it's doable!

Still To-Do:

Also To-Do:

By way of an update, the view and design seem to work perfectly on staging, so I'm bumping this towards production

More To-Do:

ElliotFriend commented 10 years ago

Putting most of the components' labels above them makes it look much more uniform! I did some styling (will be pushing soon) for the prospective term/year items, though. And I made the labels look a little nicer.

I'm taking this up to Haley to get her "blessing" before we close the ticket. Glad to (almost) have something done ha!

ElliotFriend commented 10 years ago

Got this feedback from Haley:

ElliotFriend commented 10 years ago

Closing now with the expectation that we'll re-open once we hear back what Haley wants to send out as an auto-response email.

ElliotFriend commented 10 years ago

Haley got back with me about what to put in the auto-response for the short form. Still waiting to hear back about the long form.

I'm also working on making it send emails as html, rather than plain text.

ElliotFriend commented 10 years ago

Specifying HTML in the headers is a no-go. It just makes the emails look terrible, and all the line breaks are jacked up.
