Wifi interferes with bluetooth audio #73

Open rustige opened 7 years ago

rustige commented 7 years ago

Bluetooth audio sometimes drops out for about a second. This problem increases when using wifi (e.g. downloading or streaming). If wifi is disabled bluetooth audio is stable.

Kernel: 4.14.0-rc3-audio-gpdpocket Distributiion: Ubuntu 17.04

I'm waiting my device to do some tests, do you have other bluetooth headphones or speakers to check if is related to GPD hardware/drivers? Also you can check if you can reproduce it in Windows?

rustige commented 7 years ago

No I don't. But we have several at work. So I will test it in a few days.

I don't have Windows installed on the pocket anymore.

Would be interesting to know if someone else is also affected by this.

petrmatula190 commented 7 years ago

I will test it. Please wait, maybe on saturday/sunday.

rustige commented 6 years ago

I now tested it with three different devices and problem is still present. Also on kernel 4.15.0-rc5-custom-matlala-3-1-2018.

Maybe some buffer config?

stockmind commented 6 years ago

Could be a more general problem?

Do you mind to check this? https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/405294 https://askubuntu.com/questions/950761/bluetooth-audio-skipping-while-wifi-active

Bluetooth coexistence stuttering problems: https://askubuntu.com/questions/898824/wifi-and-bluetooth-coexistence-qualcomm-atheros-ar9462-ubuntu-16-04 https://askubuntu.com/questions/645009/wi-fi-and-bluetooth-not-working-simultaneously

Raspberry pi: https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/issues/1402

Don't had time to investigate more but could that flag to disable coexistence help?

More info about it: https://superuser.com/questions/924559/wifi-connection-troubles-solved-why-does-my-fix-work

Someone with a good bluetooth setup could test this?

In some cases it seems to help, in some not.

rustige commented 6 years ago

options iwlwifi bt_coex_active=N had no effect
