GNOME 3: Auto rotates to portrait on every laptop lid close (Gnome on ubuntu 17.10) #94

Whenever I close the lid and reopen it, the screen switches to portrait. I have then to go manually on the icon to put it to landscape again.

Is there a way to block this behaviour ?

Thanks, Jonathan

I've found a lot of problems with latest GNOME scaling and rotation.

Hopefully, latest patches from Hans might help (at least for rotation)! https://www.reddit.com/r/GPDPocket/comments/7s0wn1/linux_screen_rotation_issue_fully_fixed_now/

I will try to apply the changes required to make everything work fine in future releases!

Your behavior may happen on GNOME, and did happen sometimes to me too. Have you the screen lock setting on sleep enabled or disabled?

jon1012 commented 6 years ago

I tried both enabled and disabled, doesn't seem to change anything.

In fact, when I lock with super + L it doesn't rotate.

Thanks for the pointer, I'll try to have a look at it.

I am using the Linux Mint Respin, but I was able to solve the issue by setting the display to rotated 90° clockwise in the system settings. After that it wakes up in correct orientation and also does not switch to portrait anymore after connecting to HDMI.

Sorry for late reply, @Protarios can you attach your current monitors.xml file? You can find it here ~/.config/monitors.xml Thanks!
