Switching window when selecting text by mouse

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open Madedit
2. Press down mouse key, move mouse to select text
3. Use ALT-TAB to switch to a nother window

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
In other text editors/any other programs, it losts focus and the selection 
stops.
In Madedit, an assertion appears and after saying 'no' for closing Madedit, the 
selection doesn't stop when switching back to Madedit (even with mouse key up).

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
MadEdit.7z   1st release of the patched madedit
Win7 x64

Please provide any additional information below.
I'm using a multi-desktop manager on my windows so I discovered this issue when 
accidently the desktop is switched during text selection. So I tried Alt-Tab, 
it also works.
