This reverts commit 556fde66ce4841e9bec09a2c6fe1b2d9fa09f8b6.

The exact same patch was already committed upstream (as f84730fb664c9 in this repo), and subsequently modified in 2287ff81e54a and cb42fb32f

As described in https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=954356, by applying this patch again the issue is reintroduced instead of fixed!
