Add additional requested languages/dialects #167

Open adambard1 opened 1 year ago

adambard1 commented 1 year ago

A provider representative is requesting these most commonly used languages at provider locations other than Spanish and some french dialects

  1. Pulaar (Guinea)
  2. Pulaar (Mauritania)
  3. Hassānīya (Mauritania)
  4. Pulaar (Mali)
  5. Wolof
  6. Arabic (Mauritania)
  7. Arabic (Sudan)
  8. Arabic

@shakilhossain1 could you check and see if Google Translate has these dialects? We can make a decision as to whether to implement some of these based on our ability to copyedit them.

We probably also need Creole

adambard1 commented 1 year ago

Let's leave things as they are, with only Chinese and Spanish available, but also leave this ticket open so we can come back to it when we are ready to load more languages. NYC government currently publishes pdfs to people seeking asylum in these languages. We can add them once we have figured out the best process for Chinese and Spanish.

Adding Russian to the list.

adambard1 commented 5 months ago

@shakilhossain1 just lifting up to get doobneek's russian fixes on test.

adambard1 commented 3 months ago

Languages definitely need attention. Russian is waiting to go - we want it for the re-introduction to NYC PS asap.

adambard1 commented 3 months ago

Changing this to high prio, only re Russian - we want it in place before I reach out to meet NYCPS again, given we told Corrine and Wayne back in April that it was being done, and they said they were seeing a demand for it.

@shakilhossain1 do you think you have enough knowledge to add Arabic - and have someone in Bangladesh check it?
