Dedicated Journal #417

Feature Request

As well as tasks, which are no doubt coming somewhat soon, it would be really cool to have a dedicated Journal section of Notesnook that is ideally formatted automatically, with each new day appearing at the top. It would be cool to be able to upload images, attach notes, and add tasks to entries for each day. Perhaps you could also create multiple Journals, so for instance you could use one as a school planner, and one for your private journal. Many possibilities that sound really exciting!

The only issue here is that this would be redundant with the Notebooks idea. My initial thoughts on this were to offer templates in Notebooks so a user could select a Journal template (or create their own unique one).

Just so I understand you correctly @thecodrr, you would create templates for different types of Notebooks, or Notes?

I think it would be better (in my opinion) to have an entire section of the app dedicated to Journals, and it would be located in the far-left panel along with Tags, Monographs, etc. Thoughts?

A Journal is essentially a Notebook so having an entire section dedicated to it would make very little sense and would confuse the user. Seeing how you can pin any Notebook, this can be easily achieved already.

A template for Notebooks could have the hierarchy setup by month automatically. Or it could auto create a journal entry each day.

Okay that makes sense, a little bit.

I was imagining something where it was one interface where you can scroll endlessly down to view older entries, and in that context, a Notebook is a weird choice but I can see it working. If you work up some concept art let me know, I would like to see what you have in mind when the time comes

I mean even in traditional journals there is some sort of grouping (either by month or year or something). However, if a personal wants a direct list of all the entries a Journal template for Notes would also work where a single note can act as a journal and each entry is essentially a separator + date.

You can still have grouping in the idea I have.

Imagine something like this but WAAAY more compact, and imagine one of these stacked on top of each other for each day: image

Then as you scroll, you can see the headers of each month, and you would be able to easily navigate to a specific date through a menu
