Feature request: Unlock by app #658

My passwords are long and painful.

I am thinking of a button in the app on the computer that says 'Unlock via app'. When you click on it a notification pops up in your strongbox app to allow you to unlock the app on the computer. This will require your strongbox to be open (via FaceID or something). Some banking websites already do this when you login, you have to 2fa by logging into the app and approving the login.

Hi, interesting idea, I think it has been mentioned somewhere before here, but I'm struggling to find the issue. This i believe won't be so easy to do, and I don't think it's a major priority given that we plan on adding PIN code support for quick convenience unlock and also most new Macs come with Touch ID built in. Would Touch ID work for you?

Think it was me that proposed something like this a while ago. I think it would be a very neat idea. Though I suspect rather complicated.

I don’t have Touch ID (no desktop macs come with it). My password is a pita to open my DB so I barely even use strongbox on the mac, I use handoff to pass passwords from my phone to my Mac instead. Comes with its own security risks but it’s better than leaving the DB unlocked on the mac or typing in my long and complicated password so often.

I have got used to it and it feels similar to what the OP proposed.
