The initial design of the leaf board had the center tap on a wire that plugged in, this way you could attach the center tap before you attached the outer taps. This prevented you from accidentally sending 2s worth of voltage into the second monitor if the outer taps touched before the center tap.
I don't really understand how to do that with the current design that has the center tap as part of the PCB, without flexing the PCB.
