built-in polygons for subsetting #7

It would be useful to have commonly used boundary polygons (e.g., states, counties) built into the system so that they could be requested directly (e.g., by name) without explicitly providing the clipping polygons.

That would be a great idea. Would it also be possible to have the HUC-(2-12) shapefiles from USGS?

I'm not familiar with those, but sure? :-)

Haha. Sorry should've give more context. They are used for hydrologic catchment analysis. HUC stands for Hydrologic Unit Codes, where HUC-2 are the largest delineation (regions) and HUC-12 are the smallest (sub-catchments). USGS curates the shapefiles for all catchments across CONUS and Alaska. I can look into the best way to access them on the fly, and it shouldn't be too different from accessing state/county boundary shapefiles.

Here's an explanation page.
