The most popular landcover product based on our user survey. Annual national layers are available 2008-2021. Each year is ~2 GB.

@haitao-nmsu Can you download the 2008-2021 National CDL files from this link and get them in our dataset project space under a /project/geocdl/local_data/nass_cdl folder: https://www.nass.usda.gov/Research_and_Science/Cropland/Release/. Each year is available as a zipped folder but we will want all files and no sub-folders under /project/geocdl/local_data/nass_cdl.

Note: I think this is our first categorical variable, so we should double-check if our current processing makes any continuous variable assumptions (should we limit interpolation options to those applicable to categories?) or if we need any new functionality to propagate the category labels.

cdl and vip files are done in local_data directory.

I think we can close this issue now with the dataset in the catalog, data uploaded, and other issues handling the categorical variables (e.g. #77).
