2 years ago I think VIP would be a good candidate. I was planning on including this dataset for an example anyways since we are using it in a current research project. It is in HDF-EOS format.
It also has a Pixel Reliability layer with multiple flag values to use in addressing #81.
Based on some simple tests, rioxarray appears to read in this file format just fine. But I will add the dataset to the catalog to confirm.
requested in geocdl meeting today: some desired datasets will be stored in hdf format. We should add a dataset like that and make sure its properties are compatible with geocdl.
