input format support #3

The code currently only supports CSV files as input. We could consider expanding this to other, richer input formats. The OpenOffice/LibreOffice OpenDocument format would be a good place to start.

Open/LibreOffice spreadsheet files are now fully supported. The next step will be to add Excel support.

XLS (Excel 97-2003) and XLSX (Excel 2007+) are now fully supported. Until there is a need to support additional input formats, this ticket is closed.
