You can see distance if you drag select the area from point A to point B and go into detail view (press S key), and it will show distance.

Can be quite annoying to do, also I'm pretty sure he wanted it as potential-feature for contraptions; I think he meant that he could make altitude-meters, etc. like this on for example, a jet. Though I would not recommend it to be given out as "actual" electricity but rather just be "decorative", meaning the detector/meter would measure it but not actually contain that amount of electricity.

He specifically said he needed it to calculate the programming of his rocket, but it's a solution to his problem. Measuring distance can be done with multiple detectors that are set to different ranges, its not that precise (depends on how many you put) but it does the same
the poor man just wanted his laser
Feature description I'd like to see an option to measure the power output of a laser pointer, as seen in the attached file.
Feature purpose This would open a possibility to measure distance, altitude and set up more complicated mechanisms. I got this idea when trying to create a rocket. I wanted to be able to see when to run the boosters again before it hits the ground, but the only way I could see, was to scroll away and eyeball it. I'd like to have a more precise option.
