Cause Of Death Identification Machine (or the autopsy machine) #2949

Feature description

The Cause Of Death Identification Machine, or as I will be referring to it as the "C.O.D.I. Machine" is a large spawnable machine looking similar to a cross between the Liquidentifier and the C.B.D. Machine. It would be located inside the machinery tab. Trust me, this will be interesting.

Feature purpose

The CODI Machine will be able to find the cause of death of humans and gorses. However, this will contain much more information than you would expect. Firstly, it will be able to find the manner of death. Simply put, the manner of death is what happened to start the actual cause of death. Such as a gunshot. It will find what caused the cause of death. You may think this would be hard to code (and I would too, at first) but I will explain why it isn't. Say a human dies of blood loss. If that human had a stab wound that was still bleeding by the time they died, this will be included in the manner of death. There can be multiple manners of death, such as if a man was bleeding via gunshot and stab wound by the time they died, both would show up. But what if a man dies of heart failure, or other. Well, they got heart failure because of what? If a gunshot hits the heart and destroys it, it would be recorded and put into manner of death. If a person is bleeding during the death, however, it won't be recorded. Because the blood loss was not the issue, it was the heart failure. What about heart failure during a seizure? The seizure is why the heart failure happened and the heart failure is why they died. This means that the manner is Brain Damage. How would this be easy to code? Well, simply put, it wouldn't. Coding is hard, I know myself. But this is the easy possible, "manner" (i'm so funny), to code it. When dying of blood loss, it would check the human for bleeding wounds. They would be added in the manner of death. When dying of drowning, it would immediately be water. Death by burns? Fire. Death by heart attack? Brain Damage. What about any other things, like limb destruction? Well, this is some of the hard part. You could probably label most limbs being destroyed as blood loss, and the manner as limb destruction. But what about the head being disconnected? Sadly, my idea is to just make a silly funny joke. I don't have any easy ways to detect this. Probably just say the manner is, decapitation or something funny like "lack of head" Okay, that was a massive paragraph. We're moving on to something much smaller, Cause of death. This is just why they died. Oh, they died because they didn't have enough blood? Blood loss. They had a seizure and their heart stopped? Heart Attack. Drowned? Lack of Oxygen. Frozen to death? Tissue Damage & Heart Failure (that surprised me a little bit, but the reason you die of freezing is because your heart doesn't pump as fast and then you die) You can think of the rest, you probably know more than me. Lastly, time of death. When someone dies it just records the time they died. The time of death is the local computer time when they become fully dead. Simple enough. In conclusion, I wrote this whole paragraph to try to get this in the game, and I think it's pretty good. And also, in a slightly desperate way to try to persuade you into accepting this, Ik hoop dat je dit accepteert.

i would actually prefer it to be called the "Autopsy Machine"

bibbybabby commented 1 year ago

"no head" has a double meaning, "decapitation" would fit better (not to be confused with "decapacitation")

inferknob commented 1 year ago

fair enough

So much text for a feature-request that will likely not be accepted.

inferknob commented 1 year ago

Why wouldn't it be accepted?

Drogo-man commented 1 year ago

"no head"

so you would rather see people post suggestions with 3 words and barely any context then a well thought out suggestion?

This request could've been explained with one list, 5 sentences, and without a wall-of-text.

Here is my 5 sentences. The C.O.D.I. Machine can see the time, cause, and manner of death. It is in the machines tab and can be connected via blood vessel wire to a dead humanoid or gorse. It shows the local time they died as a time of death. The manner they died is the reason, like a gunshot. The cause of death is the exact cause of death, like blood loss or heart failure.

Now to overview this Short Detailed Can easily understand every known situation this can work with Likely to be accepted. Didn't pain me to write Wall of text Context

Not so great, is it? What about my "bad" wall of text? Short Detailed Can easily understand every known situation this can work with Likely to be accepted. Didn't pain me to write Wall of text Context

Honorable Mentions: Explains how it could be coded Original Writing? New Writing? You can actually read and understand it Original Writing? New Writing? Kind of both

The original obviously wins. Checkmate.

Here's how I actually imagined the around five sentences: The CODI Machine can determine the cause of death for humans and gorses, including the manner of death, which identifies what caused the actual cause of death. It can identify multiple manners of death, such as bleeding from both a gunshot and stab wound. The manner of death can be coded by checking for certain indicators, such as bleeding wounds for blood loss or water for drowning. Cause of death is also determined, which simply identifies why the person died, such as heart attack or lack of oxygen. Time of death is recorded as the local computer time when the person became fully dead.

This is short, detailed, easily understandable, didn't pain either of us to write, and has context – all without being a giant wall of text. It also explains how it could be coded, is original, can be read and understood, and is original.

You could've even asked ChatGPT to do this for you, and it would be better than whatever you tried to do to summarize it. It's obvious you were just leaving out as much detail and information as possible to make my comment look bad.

Okay, first, I dislike using ChatGPT when doing stuff like this. I enjoy writing it. Second, I understand where you are coming from. That is understandable, detailed, short, and has context. However, I would prefer my "giant wall of text" to it. Though it does seem like a lot, it has much more context and detail. Third, I was not leaving as much detail as possible, that was my genuine attempt. I'm better at long paragraphs. And finally, I believe you left out one of the most important ones, the one where you can figure out every known situation from context. Thank you for trying, I still believe mine is better, though.

imagine if zooi just started using chatgpt for ppg features

FoxLanza commented 1 year ago

Autopsy machine is pretty cool.

ras09191 commented 1 year ago

Yeah the dev wont add this because hes too lazy

Drogo-man commented 1 year ago

Too lazy? Zooi is probably the most busy person here.

He's making a game, updating another game, and making a game engine, AT THE SAME TIME. (With help ofcoarse)

inferknob commented 1 year ago

Yeah no I agree, Zooi is like, the most hardworking dev currently. Tying with maybe toby fox. He's an indie dev, + has to code an entire game, + another game, + a game engine.

Tom28281 commented 1 year ago

very cool. I like the idea (i didnt know detonating 10 tons of c4 near someone did damage to him)

mestiez commented 1 year ago

This would be incredibly difficult to implement and add a lot of complexity to the human just to have this one machine

Tom28281 commented 1 year ago

ok, if it is difficult i understand/

inferknob commented 1 year ago

Durn! But thanks for commenting on my post
