Okay I had this idea last night. It'd be a big update but it would add some cool features. I already know this will have probably been suggested numerous times before but I wanted to submit my own anyway.
This update would add new ways to generate/harvest/extract power rather than (current) generators, batteries, etc. This would mainly feed on the idea of rotational force spinning a turbine and driving a new generator object (we could rename the old "generators" to something else) in order to produce electricity. Turbines can be connected to (new) generators using the once quite useless mechanical belt. Attaches to the spinny part of a turbine to the spinny part of a (new) generator.
Some ideas are as follows:
Sources
Wind Turbines -- one of the obvious ones. big structures that come in two or three parts, similar to trees, or rotors. The turbine
would be mounted on the top near the blades and spins based on a new Environment factor: Wind Speed
Water Wheels -- these have a turbine attached to a big wooden water wheel and will spin when in water to produce rotational
power.
Boilers -- use heat to boil water and produce rotational power. could also be used for other stuff, idk what
Nuclear Reactors -- why not?!
We could even add capacitors to store electricity in.
Of course, we could use the rotational power to do other things than electricity, we could just use the rotational power instead.
Feature purpose
This would expand the abilities of members of the technical community (like myself) and add more realism than just infinite power.
