Radars?!?!?!??! #803

Open ppgplayer opened 2 years ago

ppgplayer commented 2 years ago

Feature description Radar system and parts

Feature purpose Useful for finding things with radar. You send out a radar wave with a part, it bounces off something with a varying level of reflectivity (if it's not reflective enough the radar doesn't travel far enough back to detect it) and a part receives it sending an activation signal.

i second this request

i mean isnt this just a pile of detectors with some extra steps?

so you're telling me you want a laggy game instead of just a simple system

those extra steps are important

a cool idea would be to be able to connect a 50 Cal to it and have a receiver that ignores the object it is connected to but if something or someone doesn't have that receiver they get shot

this hurts to read

i'm pretty sure 10 detectors connected together would be more performant than the signal reflectivity thing you were talking about

Well then do that

With all due respect... How tf will a pile of detectors be equivalent to radar system? Even if 10 detectors are equivalent to a radar system, how the heck is someone gonna put that all together?

All you have to do is place the detectors in a way so their beams create an outwards cone shape, then you just wire them all up to a siren or whatever you want them to do. It's simple and works well enough, I don't see why you'd want something more complex in a game like this. Radars would simply be overkill, at least in the way ppgplayer suggested them

so, movement detectors?

ppgplayer commented 2 years ago

so, movement detectors?

Nope, radar waves. Is a microwave the same as a telescope?

The movement detector does the exact same thing.

basedkit commented 2 years ago

Movement detectors can’t detect an object that moves too fast even at max iterations, a radar item would allow for more accurate tracking and allow for many different contraption possibilities
