Great idea! I am looking into creating a .deb file which would make it easier
for Linux users to install and would be the first step in that direction.

Thanks, this would be great! Installation is currently very easy, as you just
unzip the package and run the launch script. But as it isn't installed for
real, it doesn't integrate with the system (eg. you can't open diylc by
clicking on a .diy file directly), and this would be solved with the suggested
.deb package, so this would be a great step in the right direction.
The next step, a PPA or, even better, inclusion in the official ubuntu package
sources would allow for automatic updates. Diylc is updated quite frequently
(which is fantastic), and it's something of a bother to manually download the
new versions We linux users tend to get lazy as we are used to always getting
all updates for all programs automatically :)
This is no biggie, of course, diylc is great as it is, but a debian package
would increase the user base a lot, i think. (Next up, Android version...)

Fredrik, I have created a deb file which works. There are a couple of things to
fix yet, but you might like to try it on your computer. I will email it to you
if you wish. I don't want to post it here as it isn't ready for anyone else to
use. Chris

A Debian repository is now available from the Downloads page. This will provide
automatic updates to new DIYLC versions.

We are now working on getting it accepted into Debian, which would also make it
available in other Debian based distributions like Ubuntu and Mint. If you
would like to help with this post a message here.

This is a particularly easy-to-use design tool for PCBs, Veroboard and Matrix
Board. It just takes a few minutes to learn and there's a huge number of files
around the 'net designed using this tool.
