I had the same problem: for some reason Soundflower was muted and an uninstall +
reinstall didn't solve it. It might be an idea to reset the mute settings
(wherever
they are stored) on an uninstall.

Similar thing here.

I installed for soundflower for first time, version 1.4.3.

I use it to have volume controls of my digital output when im not using
passthru.

But after 20 min, or more, using soundflower the sound get distorted and
crazy.... just more seconds after
that comes silence.
If I change the buffer size everything comes back to normal, but after some
time everything happens again.

It appears to be random.

Should I install an older version to test?

Sound Flower is the biggest pain in the ass app that I've encountered in two
years.
I've installed it, it is listed in System Preferences but cannot be found with
a search of my Macintosh HD
I despise Sound Flower.
