Fail to update to 2083: Unable to rename ... it's being used by another process #1710

Description

After clicking "Install" in the Sublime Merge update window, update fails with this message:

If I search "merge" in Windows resmon utility at this moment, it shows this: image

I've tried to close Sublime Text and try again, but it didn't help.

P.S. Previous updates were fine, absolutely same config, used software on my PC and all the other things.

  1. Open Sublime Merge
  2. It prompts to update from 2079 to 2083, click Download, then Install

Expected behavior

Updates successfuly

windows restart helps

I just got this when updating from 2079 to 2083. Downloading and running the installer manually worked.
