[WSL2] Immediately exits on launch unless in Safe Mode

Description

I tried using Sublime Merge on WSL2 and it worked for one session - when launched from command line but not from the Start menu. Now smerge just immediately exits with code 0, unless --safe-mode is specified. Removing all configuration ~/.config/sublime-merge* and cache ~/.cache/sublime-merge* directories does not help. Safe mode seems to work fine.

Steps to reproduce

1. Install Sublime Merge in the WSL2 environment.
2. Try to run it more than once.

Expected behavior

Runs normally and does not exit.

Update: it looks like this is what happens:

• Sublime Merge is launched and works normally
• I put the PC to sleep and then wake it up
• Sublime Merge window disappears, but the processes live on, two of them: sublime_merge and crash_handler.
• Killing those two processes makes smerge work correctly again
