On a small screens it's inconvenient to work in vertically split view presentation scheme in both sheet or groups split view. Quite often user has to manage groups size manually resizing them by the mouse. Which is both quite slow and annoying.
Preferred solution
Zed has feature to zoom in/out to a particular buffer by a hotkey. Which is a lifesaver in this workflow when you can fast and easy dig down into a particular view while keeping your order of all the other panes preserved.
Alternatives
Origami package which provides similar feature fails to store previous subviews ratio on unzoom always leaving it evenly spaced. Also it's quite a workaround.
