Switching to a single layout reverses the order of the open tabs

Description of the bug

If we have a two column layout with some views/tabs in the right column and then switch to the single layout, all views from the right group appear in reversed order afterwards. See the clip below

In addition we loose the MRU (ctrl+tab) order of the group, and the focused view.

Steps to reproduce

See clip above

Expected behavior

• The order of the tabs remains the same.
• The focused view does not change.
• Ideally, we can keep the MRU order.

Actual behavior

• The tabs appear in reversed order
