Sometimes you just want to inform your local instance and not broadcast a local post to everywhere

I don't know if this is necessary. I'm not really a fan of local only content. Just seems anti-federation.

Consider the potential necessity for vulnerable communities, as well as a drama limiter. Instances that make public announcements of blocking other instances no matter how kindly you ask others to do so will always get people wandering in and making their opinion heard. As well some communities with specific focuses may feel safer in local only communities to have specific discussions.

@jgrim of course its anti federation, but like @gaviscapes said, for vulnerable community or only local announcements it is benefitial.

@gaviscapes @Pdzly couldn't they just use a local only community? I think local only post/comments is unexpected regarding interactions. One instance has a thread while others missout.

An entire community being local only makes more sense than just a single post or comment.

This one is a tougher sell for me.

@jgrim for example some announcements are just for the local community but some are for everyone like a downtime.
