Author
(1) As an author, I want to be able to see which authors have been designated as corresponding authors so that I can check this has been done correctly.
Production staff
(2) As production staff, I want to be able to remove corresponding author status from an author so that I can correct this information if requested.
(3) As production staff, I want to be able to add corresponding author status to an author so that I can correct this information if requested.
But what if . . . ?
What if the corresponding author who has been sent the proof in the first place needs to have corresponding author status removed?
Considerations
At the moment at eLife, only one (of possibly many) corresponding author will be the recipient for the proof; if there are other corresponding authors, they do not receive copies of the proof and cannot submit it back to us. We in-house refer to the recipient of the proof as the primary corresponding author. They are designated as ‘corresponding author for proofs’ in the eJP XML output.
Sometimes the primary corresponding author will be unavailable, so it might be useful to be able to change who has been given that status on the fly to avoid delays.
For eLife, only corresponding authors should have email addresses (emails covered in #1260).
For Érudit, one or more authors can have the status of corresponding author (at the moment, all authors with an email address are treated as @corresp="yes").
Please add any additional requirements you may have.
