(Hi, only comments to check if I am in the right direction)
At this moment <glossary>
element is not at the "Simple JATS" of docs/TextureArticle. Yes, is an useful element in my opinion... But let's check in deep:
There are no simpler alternative as <p>
staring with terms in bold, because lack of glossary-semantic.
The <list list-type="simple">
is simpler but the adaptations may be complex...
There are similar-semantic element, <def-list>
that can generate some confusion... Perhaps this discussion is about both, glossary
and def-list
.
Is useful and a "in use" documental structure:
Generic glossaries are in use in nowadays, the analog tag in HTML was porpused in ~1995 as <dl>
element... And was preserved as it, in HTML3, HTML4 and HTML5.
Scientific literature use it in nowdays. (need sources to assertion?)
...? ... Substance JATS corpus statiscs (exist?) show some significative frequence of use of glossary
or def-list
tags?
...? ... Substance Manuscript corpus statiscs (exist?) show some significative "intention of use"? Perhaps the HTML Manuscripts have some occurences of dl
.
This can be used for definitions which can then be referenced in the manuscript.
