Stick to three-level versioning scheme #26

I would suggest that we stick to a three level versioning scheme:

major.minor.bugfix

Thus having a version 1.0.0, not a 1.0. We have had a three-level scheme so far 
already.

I changed the pom.xml file to have the version 1.0.0-SNAPSHOT in anticipation 
of the next release.  This should effectively resolve this issue.  

I synchronized the version numbers of the two projects for simplicity.  Reopen 
this issue if not ok.
