for some languages pango sample is only used for first font #63

Not sure what is going on but for some languages, different string or context appears for first and second font.

  1. enable Pango Sample Text
  2. switch language in lang menu

eg ayr, ann, ii : show "The quick brown fox..." for 2nd font

Ah wonder if it is missing English coverage: at least that seems to be the case of ii (Yi).

don't know if you are taking about this. image

As you noted not that many languages have pango sample text. For those that don't there is no point to switch to sample text of course, so we should not: ie in that case should fallback to the native language name.

As discussed in meeting, we should check if output font of fc-match exists in fc-list, then only we should set it in the first fontbutton.

Only en has the Pango sample string "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog." If this string appears for any language other than en, it indicates that the default string is being used instead of the correct localized sample.

  1. enable Pango Sample Text
  2. switch language in lang menu example: agr Before:
    agr
The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.

    After:

    agr
    Awajún

if no pango sample text for specific font then it should return the language name of language code
