Upgrade to chaos calmer! #72

Closed max-b closed 8 years ago

So chaos calmer is now stable (as of Sept 2015)! http://wiki.openwrt.org/about/history

I don't think that we need to be in much of a rush to upgrade, but my sense is that this should be a reasonably painless upgrade and that it's probably worth doing (I could be wrong on at least one of those assumptions)

I built a set of chaos calmer firmwares on the digital ocean droplet I've been experimenting with. I'm gonna test them out with all the devices and configurations I have around here.

http://build-test1.sudomesh.org/builds/ (I'll try to remember to demarcate them as chaos_calmer so I don't forget...)

The build was smooth, but they've deprecated support for atheros, so I had to cut that from the build configs.

Other than that, it looks pretty good!

Welp. Scratch that. The build proceeds just fine, but the firmware isn't playing nicely with makenode (at least with the mynets). It will allow makenode to write packages and transfer them over and install them, but after reboot it becomes mostly unresponsive. It's strange because it's actually still broadcasting babel routes, and I can get a lease from it on the br-open ethernet ports, but I can't ping it or anything else..... Hrmmm...

Ok I think this fixes it: https://github.com/sudomesh/makenode/commit/2b0d024d8d60d3d92958cf8fbdd07f484c188d86

I'm gonna keep testing...

Tested and working on mynet n600 and tplink wdr3600. I'll check the extender nodes too.

Ok tested on all the usual suspects and working fine. I'm going to go ahead and migrate.
