[Announce] Sunset of extension #816

Dear all.

I was working on Manifest v3 support at #802

However, I found to rewrite most of the main logic. Specifically, reworking background.js as a Service Worker is very very work...

I created this extension in 2013, but at that time there were no features to receive notifications in the browser.

But now browser notifications are a standard feature of GitLab.

I have therefore decided to give up on migrating to Manifest v3 and terminate the maintenance of this extension.

Q. May I fork this (or make a full scratch) and make a new extension?

OK.

This code is MIT License, so you can fork and edit this freely.

But, the code base is very legacy, so it is recommended to rebuild from scratch without forking :sweat:

I will leave the repository as it is for a while in the hope that someone will send me a patch.

However, I will archive this repository after July 2024 when Manifest V3 becomes mandatory.

Q. May I take over maintenance?

NO

I never transfer due to concerns about Supply chain attack by malicious users.

Please publish it in the Chrome store as a separate extension from this extension.
