wrong error message shown in repo browser

If access is denied to the repo root but only given read access to some 
subfolders, the repo browser shows the "access denied" error message for empty 
folders that actually have read access.
It should show the folder as empty without an error message instead.

after some analyzing it seems that the error message is applied to the wrong 
tree item object when fetching (or trying to fetch) externals.
