Reproduction steps:

Open /etc/backup-manager.conf
Set BM_REPOSITORY_ROOT to a valid path that contains spaces, e.g. /var/backup archives/dir
Run backup-manager

The command gives an error: chown: cannot access '/var/backup': The file or directory does not exist
