restricts an entire ePortfolio as "Stanford-only"
Does this mean we only show the exhibit to users who are currently Stanford-authenticated? In other words, the eportfolio landing page shows only exhibit cards for eportfolios published as "Public" if the current user is not Stanford-authenticated, but shows all (published) exhibit cards if the current user is Stanford-authenticated?
If so, is something like this feasible?
Show the Access restrictions radio button group. Public would be the default value?
The Access restrictions radio buttons are disabled.
Also, is this an eportfolio-specific feature, or is there any value to adding to Exhibits? cc: @caaster
We have a request from the folks who run the Human Rights minor to implement a publishing option that restricts an entire ePortfolio as "Stanford-only". Here is their request and explanation:
"The issue for us as users is that I as a degree program administrator have slightly different needs than my students as users. I want to require all of them to create ePortfolios so that I have a complete set to showcase to C-RUM for program curriculum review, but it doesn’t quite feel fair to me that I require them to have a publicly searchable website online with their student work as they start their professional careers. I mean, certainly I think the selling point is that some of them will want to have an ePortfolio publicly searchable so that they can use it to demonstrate their credentials more meaningfully to the outside world, but I’m sure that others will prefer not to, and right now the only option available for that seems to be to simply keep the portfolio unpublished. If it’s not too much trouble, it would be great to have publishing options public and Stanford only, the way you can limit access to SDR objects."
