Basically, file a SAR ticket.

Information we need to specify to request a VM, with provisional answers:

• Name/environment of host
  • rialto-vitro-dev
• Number of CPUs
  • 4
• Amount of RAM
  • 16GB
• Amount of storage needed by Vitro instance
  • 500GB
• Amount of storage needed for Vitro logs
• NFS storage needed (if so, specify amount)
• MySQL:

  mysql_size: 4G
  backup: false
  ship_to_afs: false
  capistrano_db_file: false

• Preferred username for application to run under
  • rialto
• List of SUNet IDs with access to the host
  • mjgiarlo, tommyi, jgreben, cmharlow, petucket, jcoyne85, amcollie
• GitHub URL
  • https://github.com/vivo-project/Vitro/tree/rel-1.9.3
• Project name
  • RIALTO
• SSL needed
  • false
• WebAuth needed

• WebAuth method (workgroup or any valid user?)
  • workgroup should suffice (can we create a RIALTO workgroup, @peetucket?)
• Proxy Tomcat with Apache/WebAuth
  • This seems useful. Need YAML like the following (needs tweaking)

• List ports required open and to what nets

Note that some of the numbers above are suggested by the VIVO documentation.

With the 500GB storage requirement, it would be good to have the rialto app in its home dir on a dedicated /opt/app/rialto partition (local disk) while the application data itself (bulk of its storage) live on an nfs mount (ie /rialto)?

@kamchan I'm not sure where Vitro stores its data or how much control we have other that. Would it be possible to begin by allotting a single smaller partition (say 50GB), and then reconfiguring the host later when we know more? (Maybe @cmh2166 knows better, so I'm tagging her in here.)
