752 (Hierarchical place name) not mapped. Used as access point for place of publication #374

Spec uses in most records. Indicate place of publication. Would like to search on. Also used in Newspaper catalog records (place newspaper is related to). 752: Hoover uses; many newspaper titles, but non-newspaper as well, useful to be mapped to inventory

No clear place in inventory. Would need to be a new note type.

Spec has confirmed that currently not searching in WFs and inclusion in MARC/reporting will be sufficient. Check-in with Hoover needed

Per Hoover - I can think of times when searching in inventory for place of publication would be helpful (as the city name in the 264 is transcribed as-is on the item, so cities can be recorded differently based on spelling differences/language differences; and 752s also include country information, and can include other information like county etc.). ...Cyrillic cataloger, Ognjen, and he confirmed that being able to search 752 data in FOLIO would be wanted.

Waiting for next round of QA

With recent testing/training, still needed in mapping? If so where?

ahafele commented 1 year ago

Hoover - if possible to map would be useful. Spec feels same. Nancy agrees. Specific note type (geographic coverage NOT useful)

done.
