@caaster @blalbrit do you have any objects as examples we can look at
I would like to understand this story a bit further. Is this something that is being done in MODS in any objects? Or is this prospective - if we were to add this to MODS, could it be displayed?
Local practice is to include the purl in the MODS.
@arcadiafalcone - can you point to some examples?

But from looking for examples it's clear that many MODS records are missing the purl, and notably it's not included in the MODS that Hydrus generates.
There's a PURL url already indexed as url_fulltext
. Can we just use that instead of extracting something from the MODS?
That's better than pulling it from the MODS, so long as it is limited specifically to purls.
I think this also may be close to being resolved with the advent of our new metadata modal. I'm seeing some objects where a url is linked in that modal. For instance see: https://exhibits-stage.stanford.edu/lanciani/catalog/rg990qk5829 and click link "View all metadata". There is a "related item" that is the purl link.
I am not seeing this uniformly, however. Here are some examples: see the modal: https://exhibits-stage.stanford.edu/american-enlightenment/catalog/gs655tw6087 see the modal: https://exhibits-stage.stanford.edu/secret-service/catalog/dw587nk5163 see the modal: https://exhibits-stage.stanford.edu/shpc/catalog/hf985bp5646
Story: Exhibit curators would like to display a persistent URL for objects included in their exhibits, so that users may reliably cite an object (for example, a dataset) that they found via Spotlight, and to manage PURLs separately from other kinds of URLs.
