to help users notice when autoplay is in effect, we want to add some (hopefully subtle) indicator to the experience interface. this could be a countdown timer or a "ring" type indicator that shows how much time is left before the experience automatically advances.
in addition, the indicator could serve as a control for explicitly pausing and resuming autoplay, in case the user wants more time to examine a specific slide.
