I'm not sure it needs to give 2, but I suppose that comes down to the initial gem cost and research required
Probably make it five gems and deathtmpgem 1 then.
D/N spells requiring gems would become rather more effective, including swarm druids, so this would need in-depth consideration of how it'd buff already strong nations.
Swarm is nature, I'm talking about death gems specifically. This would primarily effect Rigor Mortis, which is niche and would act as a flat buff to Ermor late game (and only if they take the typical DN pretender) which is its weak point, Shadow Blast, which is severely underused due to the difficulty with gem management, Plague, which never gets used period, despite being an awesome spell (due to a handful of reason not just gem management, but this would create an incentive to use it), really death has a LOT of awesome spells that don't get used because of the gem management it requires, everyone just falls back to Horde of Skeletons and single cast battlefield buffs so they don't have to worry about burning 30 gems slinging shadow blast at 30PD. This would flat out give more variety to battles and give a lot more options to nations which build their battle groups around fielding large numbers of death mages. I don't think I need to describe which nations those are.
Rotting Branch D2/N2 const6 (D3N3 maybe but takes away access from machaka) deathtmpgem 2 MRN check to age (mostly just fluff with little gameplay impact, rotting tree saps lifeforce from user and crystallizes it into death gems)
