Hysteresis analyses were performed for two different depth pairs: 8 inches vs 16 inches and 8 inches vs 24 inches. Drying and wetting points were random and didn't follow a systematic cyclic wetting/drying pattern across two depths. Dry and wet attractor values were based on the distance from the origin to the high-density grids for both depths (D1 and D2). Grids were created throughout the plot area and the number of points within each grid was counted; only grids with points>15 were considered high-density grids for FC and PWP determination.

Note: One thing I noticed from the R code is that I considered the points as wetting events if there is an increase in VWC at both depths simultaneously or deeper depths remain constant (I could have considered wetting events even if there is a negligible reduction in VWC for the other depth or drying events if there is a negligible increase in VWC for the other depth-this would reduce the number of complicated classes in the plots: many grey dots would be replaced by blue/orange in the last plot).

Note: For 24 inches, dry attractor values are very high meaning they do not reach PWP. Wet and dry attractor values for corn full irrigation is inconsistent across the two tables. for the 8 inches (D1).
