Mupdf supports filling forms so it should be possible to implement in Sumatra.

This issue tracks implementing enough support to enable filling the IRS form 1040: https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f1040.pdf

@kjk MuPDF-GL has the capability to edit fields and save the PDF (it is not very intuitive) f1040return from mupdf.pdf

https://www.uscis.gov/i-130 is another form example. Some info at https://eclecticlight.co/2019/06/18/pdf-without-adobe-23-the-nightmare-of-forms/

kjk Interestingly form i-130 renders better in MuPDF engines than older Acrobat 9 (my comparative version which understandably says it needs an update to handle that form) MuPDF appears to handle the hybrid format well enough to edit form entries but the article suggests there may be unseen script driven options ?

This issue has been linked to a Canny post: Filling of PDF forms :tada:

This issue has been opened for a while. Is there any roadmap that includes this? 1.4, 1.5?

GitHubRulesOK commented 2 years ago

@terax6669 Basic form filling is possible in 3.4p-r but it can only be dumb annotation text similar to the saved form annotation data rather than flattened field data suitable for exporting in a FDF file. image
