Generally SumatraPDF simply uses the system default printer settings as stored by windows registry and makes few if any changes (hence lots of requests to do this and that) That also in general applies to most default settings for the secondary printers as you will see below. Many print drivers have means to change and store those secondary functions, thus when I send a 7 page report to my paper printer it will change the order since my default is set to auto collate
See here mine is set for me and I can't change it to NOT collate even if I wanted to in SumatraPDF or many other apps
I've made a feature request https://sumatrapdf.canny.io/feature-requests/p/make-default-printing-collate-setting-customizable
If this is possible it would be a great idea. My Universal HP driver is set by default to not collate. This can be changed through some admin tool - but this was so complicated I never could realize it...
It's simply a stupidity to have a document uncollated when it is possible to print it collated. So much time lost... printing may be a bit slower but it saves a lot of time compared to the manual process!
I see something similar to @GitHubRulesOK above except I am stuck in not collating. Is there a way to switch the default? How did you do it @GitHubRulesOK ?
@sturgman Windows controls printing not SumatraPDF unless you were to call a n external script such as "uncollated" which would need to be provided in my case by "The Hewlett-Packard Company," as the "printing default" so before SumatraPDF starts
All I can attempt is any driver choice and unsure if even that applies as the default is always the same.
Collate on Collate off
First: Thank you for this great software!
I often print a PDF multiple times (e.g. contracts). The default setting for "collate" is "off" -- compare the screenshot given here: https://forum.sumatrapdfreader.org/t/how-to-print-a-document-multiple-times-but-not-each-page-of-the-document-many-times/2386/2 It would be great if I could customize the default value of this setting.
Thanks a lot in advance! Philipp
